Meet the board

Emont Duncan - President/lead mentor/coach

Emont Duncan is currently a police officer with the Henderson Police Department and has been a part of Henderson PAL gym for approximately 3 years. Emont has had a passion for community outreach since a teenager growing up in St. Louis MO and was deeply involved in community toy drives, Thanksgiving dinner distributions, community service events and mentoring. Emont also was given a Resolution with the City of St. Louis for his community work with the youth at the age of 18. Emont has had a love for boxing since a young age which helped him deal with emotions and found it to be a great mentoring tool. Now as a police officer, Emont is able to continue to give back through the Henderson PAL gym by teaching boxing and mentoring weekly.

carlos nunez - vice PRESIDENT/LEAD MENTOR/COACH

Carlos Nunez is a current police officer with  the Henderson Police Department and has been an officer for approximately 3.5 years. Carlos was born in El Salvador and raised in Henderson, NV since 2003. He was introduced to Henderson PAL in 2007 where he fell in love with the sport of boxing. Carlos explains “To me, Henderson PAL was a major influence in my life and motivated me to stay out of trouble, to be a good citizen, and a positive contributor to society like my coaches and mentors.” Now that Carlos is an officer, he volunteers time to the Henderson PAL gym mentoring and coaching the kids as he was once taught.

martha greenberg - secretary/mentor

Martha Greenberg is the heart and soul of the Henderson PAL gym, which is why she is given the name “Momma of the Gym”. She is currently the secretary on the board and gives great passion in everything that she does for the kids. Martha is retired and spends all of her time volunteering at the Henderson PAL gym as well as taking care of her cats. Martha has been a part of the gym since 2003 and has kept the gym alive for so many kids in the community. Her and her husband RC, who passed away in 2023, were a power couple and have mentored and coached hundreds of kids over the past decade. This has kept the beautiful Henderson PAL legacy alive.

Kevin gamboa - LEAD MENTOR/COACH/program coordinator

Kevin Gamboa is currently the program coordinator at Henderson PAL boxing gym. Kevin has been a part of the program going on 19 years. Kevin stated that he can honestly say PAL means everything to him because it made him the man he is today. Kevin was a kid in the program growing up and this program taught him about discipline, life lessons and most importantly having confidence in himself. Kevin volunteers out of his own time giving back to the program. His current employment position is Lead/operator at Timet Henderson.

zach sweet - mentor/coach/media

At the age of 12, Zach joined PAL and instantly knew he found home. Zach fell in love with boxing and quickly learned of the discipline required by the sport, not only in the gym but also out in the world. Zach is now a coach and mentor at the gym and he loves helping other kids learn the same values that he learned. Zach wants to give them the same opportunities that he had and more, and to help them become the best versions of themselves. Zach now works for the City of Henderson where he also host a boxing class. Zach is grateful for the opportunities that Henderson PAL has given him. It has helped him become the person he is today, and he is excited to continue giving back to the community by coaching and mentoring the next generation.

IN Memoriam

Ronnie Collins

Born of humble beginnings, Ronnie Collins was a hard scrap kid. The United States

Marine Corps taught him discipline and tempered the steel of a true Spartan. Six years

in the “Corps” birthed a true leader. Bloodied and razor sharp, Ronnie became a fighter,

mentor, coach, Mr. Maryland, Muay Thai fighter, karateka and boxer. He appeared in

Black Belt Magazine and was friends with the best of the era.

Ronnie’s hard work allowed him to retire early and move to Henderson Nevada.

Ronnie Collins and his wife became the architects and driving force behind the Police

Athletic League Boxing in Henderson. Prioritizing education, morals and ethics, he

coached thousands of younger, less fortunate kids. He donated infinite hours, affecting

many lives.

Ronnie Collins passed away in early 2023. He was a casualty of Agent Orange

and the war in Vietnam. He will not be forgotten and lives on through the Henderson

PAL program and the young men and women he inspired. Henderson PAL remains

strong, his values and memory are carried forward by those he mentored who remain

active in Henderson PAL today.
